Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his shock upon learning of the apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

"Sara and I were deeply shocked by this second assassination attempt on President Trump and are relieved to hear that it was unsuccessful once again. However, we cannot depend on luck," he wrote on X.

"We extend our best wishes to Donald and Melania, and we hope that all necessary measures will be taken to prevent such deadly attacks on a U.S. presidential candidate from happening in the future."

Law enforcement anticipates the court will mandate a "mental health assessment" for the suspect, according to a source.

Federal agents investigating an apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Sunday anticipate that a federal court in South Florida will require a "mental health assessment" of Ryan Wesley Routh before any potential criminal proceedings, according to a law enforcement source.

The source noted that due to several "unusual rants" believed to be posted by Routh online about international geopolitical events, investigators expect his mental health will be evaluated to determine his fitness for trial.

Although no charges have been filed yet, mental health assessments are common in cases involving threats to federal officials by individuals who may be experiencing mental health issues. CNN is working to confirm whether Routh has legal representation.
