Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance speaks at a campaign rally in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance did not mention Minnesota Governor Tim Walz or the upcoming debate at his final event before next week’s VP debate. Instead, he directed his criticism at Vice President Kamala Harris, focusing on her record regarding the economy, inflation, immigration, and the southern border.

At an event in Newtown, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Vance stated, “The issue with Kamala Harris is that she lacks substance. She has no plan, and after three and a half years as vice president, she has failed this country.”
Vance contrasted Harris with Democrats like former President Bill Clinton, arguing that she has strayed far from their values. “At least Clinton believed in having a secure southern border,” he said, accusing Harris of implementing "crazy" ideas as government policies.
“There’s one thing true about Kamala Harris: she represents 'uncommon sense.' She takes every wild idea and turns it into U.S. policy,” Vance remarked.
He highlighted three major concerns voiced by voters in Bucks County and nationwide: safety, high prices, and the "wide-open" southern border—issues where Trump consistently polls better than Harris.
“I believe the biggest distinction in this campaign is that Kamala Harris is ashamed of her record, while Donald Trump is proud of his,” Vance concluded.
